“Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive.”

I must say, today was a very crazy and interesting day for me. The day before spring break begins always has to be the most weird and exciting…

March 28, 2013

Today I woke up to the sound of my duck alarm. I got up, dressed, and ate breakfast. Afterwards, I decided to text my friend. We spent some time texting each other. Then, my mom came to the kitchen.  We spent almost ten minutes talking. After those ten minutes, I walked to my bus top. When I reached there, no one was there. I looked around. There wasn’t a person in sight.

“Crap, I missed the bus!”

Oh it was horrible! I ran to my mom telling her about my situation. Another bus came, and yet I had missed that bus as well. Immediately  my mother and I woke my brothers up, rushed them to get ready, and ran out of the door. Everyone sat in the car, and my mom hit the brakes. We had left my house.

It took a ten minute drive to reach to my school. When we had reached there, I speed-walked my way to the building. I pushed open the doors. No one was in sight. I turned to my left and saw the student had just left to go to homeroom. I blew out a sigh of relief. I had made it to school on time. Now it was all about reaching to my classes.

Mod 1- Homeroom and Math

When I reached my locker I dropped my locker on the ground and started unpacking my backpack. I quickly  organized everything in my locker, and rushed into the classroom. The moment I walked through the door, my friends greeted me.

“Where were you?”

“We missed you!”

“Good morning!”

I greeted them back with a friendly hello.

I rushed to get my stuff prepared for my first subject- math.

Because it was the last day before spring break, we did not do much. Our teacher gave us some white boards and markers to solve some math questions. It was all about speed and accuracy. I finally won one question! But that was because a of the other kids in my class are very quick when it comes to writing. Just kidding.

Just then, the fire bell went off. Lights started flashing. The announcer came on the speaker, but it sounded all muffled. My class evacuated immediately. We walked down the steps, outside of the building, out into the soccer field. The sun was out in the sky, yet the wind breeze was very strong. We had to wait out there until further notice.

Ten minutes passed. We were waiting outside still. The wind was blowing very hard, and everyone was cold. Fire trucks came to our school. I was freezing, and waited patiently. Time flew quickly. 15 minutes, 30 minutes, and soon an hour later we were still outside. By now everyone was tired and cold. My friends and I tried doing a penguin huddle to save heat, but it didn’t work. After an hour and 20 minutes of waiting in the cold, my friends and I were very bored. All of a sudden we began playing some hand games. We had to find some way to have fun while waiting outside…

Finally the fore trucks left. Ten minutes later we were allowed to go back inside. When we went back into the school building, the hallways seemed to be different than usual. I walked all the way back to homeroom. There, everyone was wearing their jackets, trying to warm u. The announcer said there were some technical difficulties. About five minutes later, the announcer came back and told us what had happened. Somehow a water pipe broke, and began leaking black chemicals. It had flooded the whole first floor, near the science wing. This flood destroyed all of the books and binders in classrooms. The janitors fortunately cleaned up the flood and mess, but the school promised to buy new supplies for the students.

I felt really bad for the kids who got their stuff destroyed, but yet they will get new supplies soon.

My homeroom class had to work on a worksheet until the lunch bell rang. I decided to complete some future homework, and talk to my friends. After 20 minute the bell rang. Everyone rushed outside to head to lunch.

Mod 4- Lunch

During lunch, I sat next to my friends, I*, An*, and Ki*. We were talking about the bitter cold fire evacuation we had today. Each of us were talking about what we did during the drill. An* was in I* parent’s car. I* was confused, for she didn’t know how her parent’s car was here. Ki* and I* said how they were running around the soccer field when their teacher wasn’t looking. I told them how I was playing Concentration with T*, W*, K*, Ann*, and some others.

Just then, E*, who was sitting next to me, spilled her juice all over the lunch table. Everyone gasped. I*, Ann*, me and some others ran to  get some napkins in order to clean up the spill. It took five minutes to clean it up, and it took a million napkins it clean it up with.  When we had thought the spill was mostly cleaned, it was time to leave. Everyone let after the bell rang.

Mod 5/6 and 7/8- English

When I reached my English class, I had noticed something different about it. The desks were re-arranged in a very interesting way. My teacher told us to sit in groups. She told us we were going to be watching the animated version of A Midsummer’s Night Dream.

After watching the video, we answered some questions about the unit we have completed. There were some very interesting questions, but I don’t quite remember them…

Afterwards, our teacher wished us a very lovely spring break.

Mod 9- World Cultures

My World Cultures teacher is very funny. But, if she is in a bad mood, then you do not want to mess with her. Just kidding.

Today in World Cultures we were learning about the Dynasty cycle. All we had to do was complete a worksheet from a text book. It was actually a very simple class today. We did not do much.

At the end of class, our teacher wished us a good spring break as well.

Now the last class! Then SPRING BREAK!

Mod 10- Gym

In gym we had to go to the activity room. In the activity room we played a game called GaGa.

Gaga is basically a game where you must protect your feet from being hit by a ball. You can protect yourself with any other part of your body. IF the ball hits you from the knees or below, you are out. It is actually a pretty fun game.

I reached the final round twice, and was one of the last two players standing. But, unfortunately I lost the game. Oh well. It was still very fun.

The Bus

When the final bell rang everyone rushed outside of the gym and ran to the locker rooms. I quickly changed, and ran out of the door to catch my bus.

When I reached the bus everyone was already there. Luckily An* had saved me a spot. I plopped my stuff on the seat, and sat down.

“What a tiring day!”

“I know!”

The two of us simply chilled and ate some Goldfish and a cookie. Soon we were playing 20 Questions for some reason.

When the bus stopped at my bus stop, I wished everyone a good spring break, and walked home.

  2. Purva,
    Wonderful post!
Huddling in the cold doesn’t sound like much fun, but at least it wasn’t a fire!
The rest of your day seems nice and relaxed, though.
Thank you very much for the shout-out!

  3. Thank god it wasn’t a fire. Gosh, that was a long wait. The school’s hopefully going to buy more than enough supplies for everyone (:. Hope your spring break is good.
